I am so amazed at the word, secret. When I think of the definition of a secret I think of... something that is kept hidden from others, or information that is known to only a few people. The full dictionary definition of a "secret" is:
To be kept from knowledge or view: hidden
Being marked by the habit of discretion: closemouthed
Working with hidden aims or methods: undercover (a secret agent)
Not acknowledged: unavowed (a secret bride)
We all have some type of secret in our lives. Some of us have held onto secrets for such a long time that it’s so hard for us to let go of it. Recently, I watched a documentary about secrets that really grabbed my attention. The documentary was teaching that whatever you believe, you can have. The speakers in the documentary begin to give instructions on how a person can obtain what you want. As I sat there watching, I began to think… “well if it’s that easy I need to start writing down everything that I desire for myself and for other people.”
One of the stories in the documentary was so profound. There was a man who had a desire to make $100,000 in one year. It may not seem like a lot to you, but that’s not the point of the story. That man began to talk and say what he desired. He took a one dollar bill and placed it on the ceiling of his bedroom; so that when he woke up in the morning he would see the $1 dollar bill staring back at him and he would think about his goal of making $100,000. So, literally every morning he woke up, he would see what he wanted staring back at him! Yeah, I know it a little farfetched. But, he began to speak and decree what he wanted. Then, he would close his eyes and imagine how he would touch it and what he would do with it.
Man, his story began to blow my mind and I began to get excited! However, I must be honest with you; at first I was like yeah right. Have you ever been in a place where you have seen everybody else getting what they wanted but you don’t get what you want? There are some things that I’ve been praying for, wrote down and placed in my Bible, and they still haven’t come yet. Yes, I agree it gets a little frustrating that you are at least trying to do right but it seems like that isn't good enough.
But, hold up I have a secret, right lol? I think we need to go back to the drawing board. Like I say all of the time we need to see what we do not see. Well, let’s go by his steps and add one more step to it. First he asked. So let’s apply this scripture to his step of asking.
Matthew 7:7-8 - Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
Second, he said you had to see it, so I guess we can apply Mark 9:23, which says: Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.
Thirdly he said, “Say what you want!” So we can apply Romans 4:17 - (As it is written: “I have made thee a father of many nations”), in the presence of Him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead and calleth those things which are not, as though they were.
So we can speak it into existence!
One thing they forgot to tell us in the documentary, and also my secret that I am going to share with you… you have to apply faith to what you want. So when people ask you how are you making it? How are you surviving? How did you make it through foreclosure and bad credit? WHAT IS YOUR SECRET? You look at them and say I have eight words for you, “For we walk by faith, not by sight.”
2 Corinthians 5:7 - For we walk by faith, not by sight.
